Happy Halloween!

The Digs Team would like to wish all our tenants a Happy Halloween!


Here are some interesting facts about Halloween:


1 – Halloween is older than Christianity itself. It started as a festival called Samhain, which means ‘summers end’ and was held around the 1st of November.


2 – During the 18th century, some Halloween rituals used to involve finding a husband for single ladies. Women used to throw apple peels over their shoulder, hoping to see their future husbands’ initials in the pattern when they landed.


3 – Sugar rationing during World War 2 halted trick-or-treating. After rationing ended, it was all systems go on the candy-collecting front. Candy companies began launching advertising campaigns to cash in on the ritual.


4 – Halloween is now the second largest commercial holiday in the country.



5 – The fastest pumpkin carving only took 16 seconds, the record is held by Stephen Clarke from New York.
